Leipzig is set approximately 200 km south west of Berlin. (map 1)|
You can reach Leipzig by motorway A9 and A14. (see map 2)
The exit you have to take to reach the city of Leipzig depends on the direction you come from. (see map 3)
Take the motorway A9 exit 18, direction Leipzig-West / Merseburg, then take the federal highway B181 to downtown.
From the north:
Motorway A9 to motorway intersection Schkeuditzer Kreuz, exit onto motorway A14 direction Leipzig/ Dresden/ Prag (Prague), take A14 till exit 17 Leipzig-Mitte, leave the motorway, take the federal highway B2 to downtown Leipzig
From the east:
Motorway A14 to exit 19 Leipzig-Ost, follow the federal highway B6 to downtown
When you have reached downtown Leipzig:
Take the so called Ring (a ring around downtown Leipzig) ;a 4 lane street; from federal highway B181 straight ahead, from federal highway B2 and B6 turn left and follow it (take map 4) till Leuschnerplatz. At Leuschnerplatz (a big streetcar station Look at the station signs.) you turn left, direction Connewitz/Südvorstadt, and leave the Ring. You are now on the Petersteinweg. Drive straight ahead. The street changes into Karl-Liebknecht-Straße follow this till Connewitz Kreuz (a big streetcar station). Look at the station signs! At the traffic lights you have to turn half-right into Wolfgang-Heinze-Straße (use map 5). Follow this street until you reach the first right bend. There you will see a small bridge and on the left hand side a big Conne Island graffiti. Pass the bridge (across a creek) and turn left into a small entrance (set between the bridge and the house with the graffiti). Drive ahead. You will reach a yard and you are there.
When you are coming from federal highways B95/B2 from Altenburg, Gera and Zwickau:
Taake the federal highway to exit Leipzig-Connewitz, resp. Koburgerstraße, leave the federal highway, at the traffic lights turn two times left and take the entrance between the bridge and the house with the graffiti, drive ahead and you are there.
public transport (tram, starts at central staion)
Starting at central station take line number 9, direction Markkleeberg-West. You reach stop Koburger Brücke (two stops after Connewitzer Kreuz) after approximately 20 minutes, get off. From here you can already see the entry to the Conne Island across the street.
You can also take the line number 10 (direction Lößnig) or 11 (direction Markkleeberg-Ost). Get off at stop Connewitzer Kreuz and walk the last two stops (down Wolfgang Heinze Straße: map 5). At night the bus line N9 stops at the Conne Island.
